The upcoming iPhone, which is now supposedly launching on July 17th is rumored to have a compass, which indicates of a built-in magnetometer. This helps the compass in showing right directions. This digital compass, which will be used in Apple's newest iPhone will be supplied by a Japanese company called Asahi Kasei. Some geeky developers found out compass files in the iPhone 3.0 developer version, which identify Asahi Kasei's azimuth sensor. Sounds too geeky for me. Generally mobile phone companies procure their components from China and Taiwan, but this is not the first time Apple is procuring from a Japanese technology supplier, Asahi Kasei has been the supplier for the iPod Touch since its launch but nobody is clear as to what exactly Asahi is supplying to Apple for iPod Touch. Recently, some more specifications of the new iPhone leaked, which now will have a 3.2 mega pixel snapper, video recording, 32GB beefed up memory and more processing power, so then more high-end games now!!!

Disney’s kid-oriented Disney.com mobile website has seen a surge in new traffic and user-engagement numbers in the first quarter of 2009.

Helping grow the new interest and traffic are the recent mobile promotions including the Magical Celebrations Sweepstakes, the launch of an iPhone version of the site and a mobile cross-promotion for the Hannah Montana movie.

You just had to know that Hannah Montana was involved somehow, right?

Getting to the stats, mobile page views in Q1 increased 38 percent since the previous quarter, with SMS messages up nearly 600 percent in the same period.

Incredibly, since it’s launch two years ago, the Disney mobile site has streamed more than 2 million minutes of audio and generated over 135,000 personalized voice tone greetings from Disney characters.
Also attributing to the traffic growth has been the addition of new sections of the site including:

· A new gadgets portal that features connected mobile to online games

· An expanded characters portal featuring in-depth mobile experiences built around popular Disney characters and franchises such as Mickey and Friends, Winnie the Pooh and Friends and Disney Fairies

· New content tentpoles supporting recently-debuted Disney Channel shows Sonny with a Chance and Jonas as well as new films like Hannah Montana: The Movie and Up

· New interactive games for JONAS and Hannah Montana where guests can unlock exclusive music and behind-the-scenes video

Sun Microsystems has plans. Big plans.

After being acquired by Oracle last month for $7.4 billion, Sun will launch a Java application storefront at its JavaOne conference in San Francisco next month.

Although there isn’t much information known about what the Java store will feature or offer, candidate applications “will be submitted via the web, evaluated by Sun for safety and content and presented under free or premium terms to the broad Java audience.”

Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz said the store “promises to build a more formal business around Java’s distribution reach. It’s a network service to connect companies of all sizes and types to the roughly one billion Java users all over the world.”

As with other app stores, Sun will charge for distribution - but unlike other app stores, whose audiences are tiny, measured in the millions or tens of millions, ours will have what we estimate to be approximately a billion users. That’s clearly a lot of traffic, and will position the Java App Store as having just about the world’s largest audience.

Hiding your Mobile/ Cellphone Number

Go to: Menu > Tools > Settings > Call > Send My Caller ID > 'Yes', 'No' or 'Set By Network' to follow the default settings of your home network.

It works only with very few network who provide you facility of “Private Number”

Speed Dialing From Simcard contact (not stored in mobile phonebook) Type number followed by # then call. Example: 1# or 2# or 21#

(1) The Worldwide emergency number for Mobile Phones is 112. When you are out of coverage area merely dial 112 and the mobile will search for any existing network. This number 112 can be dialed even while the keypad is locked. That's part of the GSM standard. GSM standards accept that code to remap to the local emergency number, be it 911, 111, 999, or in our case 000.
(2) Disable your stolen phone by noting down 15 digit IMEI number previously. Press *#06# then a 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to every handset. Note it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your cell phone gets stolen then you can call your service provider and give them unique code and they will be able to block your handset. So even if the thief replace the SIM card your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use or sell it to others. If we all follow this then there would be no point in people stealing mobile-phones.
(3) If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home then, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Now hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and let the other person at your home press the unlock button on your spare keys, holding it near the phone on their end. Finally your car will be unlocked. Distance is does not matter here. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors.* Your car should have audio tones, or is susceptible to RF interference.
(4) Nokia Mobiles have hidden battery power which you can utilize in emergency. Suppose your cell battery is very low and you are expecting an important call even you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery which you can be activated by pressing the keys *3370#. Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when u charge your cell next time.
(5) Mobile phones should not be frequently charged, it may reduce the battery life. Always track the battery charge indicator, and carry mobile charger in purse/bag/car to avoid the contingency of battery discharge.
(6) Every mobile handset has an IMEI number (International Mobile Equipment Identity), which is a unique number and anyone can access this number by merely pressing *#06#. The mobile warranty is attached to the IMEI number, and it is also useful in the event of theft. This IMEI can be used to prevent your phone joining a phone network if the carrier has agreed to do phone blocking.
(7) The plastic cosmetic parts lose their glare and color due to heavy exposure to sun light and too much of heat so in order to avoid direct sun exposure, one must use mobile pouches, cases and covers.
(8) Always buy Mobile phone with a long "talk time". It is more efficient, with less powerful emissions.
(9) To avoid the Liquid Crystal Damage (LCD) damage always check it out that while your phone is in the purse or while you are seated it is not in the contact with any sharp/hard object. Its advisable to use pouches or mobile covers to avoid this kind of damage.
(10) It's always advisable to install anti-virus software in your MobilePC to avoid any inconveniences.
